Privacy Policy — VPN Asia
This Privacy Policy explains how VPNService Apps ("we", "us") handles information when you use the Android application VPN Asia (the "App"). We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or contacts.
- The App shows ads from Google AdMob. Ads may use your device's advertising ID; where the law requires it we ask for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time.
- We use Google Firebase to understand app usage and to fix crashes.
- Our own servers deliver the App's content. They receive only the technical data that every internet request contains (such as your IP address), not identifiers of you or your device.
- We do not log your browsing: we do not record the websites you visit, the content of your traffic or your DNS queries.
- We do not sell your personal information for money.
1. Who is responsible
The data controller is VPNService Apps, Ukraine. Contact: support@vpnserviceapps.com.
2. Information we process and why
2.1 The VPN connection
The App uses Android's VpnService to route your device's internet traffic through an encrypted connection (OpenVPN or Shadowsocks) to a VPN server that you choose or that the App selects. Your traffic is encrypted between your device and the VPN server, and websites see the server's IP address instead of yours.
- No activity logs. We do not record or store the websites you visit, the content of your traffic, your DNS queries or which apps you use.
- Technical data needed to run the service. To establish and keep a connection, the VPN server necessarily processes your device's IP address and the amount of data transferred. This data is used only while the connection is active and for aggregate server load monitoring (for example, how many clients are connected to a server); we do not use it to identify you or build a history of your connections.
- The App downloads the server list and the connection configuration for the selected server from our servers. These requests do not contain your name, email, advertising ID or device ID. Your IP address is received as with any internet request.
- Split tunneling. If you choose apps that should bypass the VPN, the App reads the list of apps installed on your device to show it to you. This list and your choice are stored only on your device and are never sent to us.
- The connection timer, your settings, your selected server and a technical connection log for troubleshooting are stored only on your device.
- Check IP. On phones, the "Check IP" button opens the third-party website chkip.info in your browser. On Android TV, the App asks the third-party service api.myip.com for your public IP address and shows it on screen.
2.2 Advertising (Google AdMob)
The App displays ads provided by Google AdMob (Google LLC / Google Ireland Limited). To show, limit and measure ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and app information, and information about your interactions with ads. Depending on your choices, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Learn more in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
- European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland: before any ad is requested, the App shows Google's consent form (Google User Messaging Platform) and asks for your consent to personalized ads and related processing.
- United States: where state privacy laws give you the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising, you can do so in the App under Privacy settings.
- You can change or withdraw your choice at any time in the App under Privacy settings (where shown), and you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads, or Settings → Google → Ads).
2.3 Analytics and crash reports (Google Firebase)
We use Google Analytics for Firebase to understand how the App is used, for example the number of users and sessions, app opens and updates, session length, device model, operating system version, approximate country and an app-instance identifier. We do not attach your name or other directly identifying information to this data.
We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports: the error details, the state of the device at the time of the crash (model, OS version, free memory) and an installation identifier. We use them only to find and fix bugs.
We use Firebase Remote Config to update technical settings of the App (such as backup server addresses) without releasing a new version. It uses a Firebase installation identifier.
2.4 Purchases (Google Play Billing)
The App offers an optional subscription that removes ads and unlocks premium servers. Payments are processed entirely by Google Play. We never receive your card or payment details; the App only receives from Google Play whether you have an active subscription, and it keeps this status on your device.
2.5 Google Play features
The App may use Google Play In-App Review to let you rate the App and Google Play In-App Updates to offer updates; these are provided by Google under its privacy policy.
2.6 Notifications
While the VPN is active, Android shows a persistent notification with the connection status.
2.7 Country selection
The country you select as your main country is stored on your device and is used to load the matching server list and settings from our servers.
3. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
- Consent — personalized advertising and the related use of your advertising ID and device storage. You can withdraw consent at any time in Privacy settings.
- Performance of a contract — providing the App's features and any subscription you purchase.
- Legitimate interests — delivering content, non-personalized ads, usage analytics, crash reporting, security and fraud prevention. You may object to this processing by contacting us.
4. Who receives the information
- Google (AdMob, Firebase, Google Play) as described above, under Google's Privacy Policy.
- Our hosting and network providers that operate our servers, only to run them.
- Authorities, if we are legally required to disclose information.
We do not sell personal information for money. Under some US state laws, allowing advertising partners to use device identifiers for targeted ads may be treated as a "sale" or "sharing" of personal information; you can opt out as described in section 2.2.
5. International transfers
Our servers and our service providers, including Google, may process information outside your country, including in the United States and other countries outside the European Economic Area. Where required, such transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by Google.
6. How long we keep information
- Technical data received by our servers is kept only as long as needed to operate and protect the service.
- Analytics data and crash reports are kept according to Google Firebase retention settings (crash reports are deleted by Google after 90 days).
- Data stored on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the App.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or US state privacy laws), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to restrict or object to its processing, to withdraw consent and to opt out of targeted advertising. Because we do not know who you are, we usually cannot link data to you; Google provides tools to manage data collected by its services, and you can reset your advertising ID at any time. To exercise your rights, email support@vpnserviceapps.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the App, contact us and we will help delete it.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. The new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be announced in the App or on its Google Play page.
